Post-doctoral position : Locally resonant soft meta-coatings for underwater acoustics

Purposeof the post-docposition: The proposed positiontakes place into research carried out at the I2M laboratoryin the global scientific context of Soft Matter and Acoustics.The main goal is to participate in designing, fabricating (in collaboration with physical chemistry labs) and measuringacoustic properties oflocally resonant coatings based on our soft-matter approach for underwater-sound masking and anechoism.The most challenging aspectof the research is to relate dynamical properties of the materials (essentially the resonant acoustic absorption) to the static mechanical behavior of the elastomeric composite (modifications of the internal random structure having potentially an impact on the dynamical properties).As a result the work will embrace both experimental (ultrasonic measurements of samples under static loads) and theoreticalpredictions of acoustic loss by both internal scattering and damping features of the composite components.In the end, it is crucial for in situ applications to precisely understand and predict the physical mechanisms impacting the macroscopic(static anddynamic) materialbehavior of these compositesunder hydrostatic pressure.
