The 3rd International Symposium on the Acoustics of Ancient Theatres (SAAT 2026) will take place at the Polytechnic University of Cartagena, from 25 to 28 October 2026. The symposium is organised by the Spanish Acoustical Society and the EAA Technical Committee on Room and Building Acoustics, in collaboration with the Acoustical Society of Italy and the Hellenic Institute of Acoustics.
SAAT 2026 will bring together researchers, experts, and practitioners to address a wide range of topics related to the acoustics of ancient theatres and other culturally and historically significant sites. These include measurement techniques, acoustic modelling and simulation, auralisation, soundscapes, and virtual reconstruction methods, among others.
The technical programme will include keynote lectures, oral and poster sessions, as well as dedicated discussions and workshops, providing opportunities for knowledge exchange and collaboration across the international acoustics community.
The event will take place in Cartagena, a city known for its historical heritage and cultural significance. The programme will include the opportunity to visit the Roman Theatre of Cartagena, offering participants a direct connection to the themes of the symposium.
SAAT 2026 aims to promote scientific exchange, foster collaboration, and support the advancement of research in the acoustics of historical and culturally significant environments.
