The 8th Symposium on the Acoustics of Poro-Elastic Materials (SAPEM 2026) will take place at the Université Gustave Eiffel in Marne-la-Vallée, France, from 16-20 November of 2026.
Since its first edition in Lyon in 2005, SAPEM has established a long-standing tradition of bringing together academics, students and professionals to:
- present the latest developments in modelling, characterization and applications of acoustic porous media,
- highlight advances in adjacent disciplines,
- foster interdisciplinary communication, and
- discuss future challenges for this field of research.
The programme of SAPEM 2026 will feature keynote lectures, contributed talks, posters sessions, panel discussions, and social activities.
Specific topics of this SAPEM edition include but are not limited to:
- Sustainable development goals
- Characterization (at micro and macro scales); modelling; computational methods
- Materials with flow
- Structure-property-manufacturing relationships, bio-inspired, architected, sustainable; multi-functional; multi-physics
- Meta-materials/-structures: negative response functions, couplings, non-reciprocal, sorption...
