PhD position in the field of audiovisual virtual reality at the Institute for Hearing Technology and Acoustics at RWTH Aachen University

Application deadline: Sun 25 Aug 2024

We (Institute for Hearing Technology and Acoustics (IHTA), RWTH Aachen University) have an open position (100% TV-L E13) in the AUDICTIVE Priority Program (www.spp2236-audictive.de).

As part of the DFG Priority Program AUDICTIVE, we are looking for a PhD student in the field of acoustics for an interdisciplinary project with project partners from psychology and virtual reality.

The aim of this research project is to investigate audiovisual variations of realistic listening situations (communication situations/classroom) in virtual reality (VR) and their effects on the auditory performance/attention/listening effort/listening comprehension etc. of listeners. By investigating the effects of different features of audiovisual VR on the above-mentioned cognitive performances, we aim to gain important insights for creating realistic and immersive verbal social interactions and thus contribute to current VR-based cognition research and provide recommendations for further research.
