  1. Machine Learning in Musical Audio: Independent research in computational methods for time-based arts and musicology (e.g. generative audio/music, timbre/expression, MIR, digital/computational musicology) under supervision of Prof. Anna Aljanaki. Fixed-term 4 years: https://go.iem.at/UAMLMA
  2. Acoustics and Audio Engineering: Independent research in audio signal processing and machine learning, with emphasis on real-time signal processing under supervision of Prof. Alois Sontacchi. Fixed-term 4 years: https://go.iem.at/UAAAE

Note:

These positions fully funded PhD positions (Austrian term: University Assistant, Prae-Doc), which are university staff employment positions in which the PhD project is developed jointly with the supervisor within the advertised research area, allowing considerable freedom to shape your own research. Candidates with a concrete research idea are encouraged to include a research exposé with their application, but this is not required.

We would be grateful if you could forward these offers to your students and other potential candidates. The application deadline is June 30, 2026.
