Acta Acustica Transitions to Diamond Open Access

Fri 17 Jan 2025

The EAA is proud to announce the successful transition of Acta Acustica to Diamond Open Access (DOA) as of January 1, 2025. This milestone continues the journal’s commitment to open science, following its move from a subscription-based model to Gold Open Access in 2020. Now, under the Diamond Open Access model, Acta Acustica eliminates Article Processing Charges (APCs), ensuring free access for both readers and authors.

This transition is supported by a collaborative funding initiative involving the EAA, the French National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS), Technische Informationsbibliothek (TIB), and the French Acoustics Society (SFA). Together, these organizations have guaranteed the journal’s Diamond OA publication for 2025 and initiated a three-year pilot project (2025–2027) to evaluate the sustainability and global impact of this equitable publishing model.

Under DOA Articles accepted from January 1, 2025, will be published in Diamond OA without APCs, marking a significant step forward in equitable access to scientific knowledge.

While funding for the first year is secured, additional contributions from institutions and organizations are essential to sustain this transformative model through 2026 and 2027.

The EAA calls on potential funders to join this collaborative effort and help ensure the future of inclusive publishing in acoustics. Together, we can advance global research while maintaining the highest standards of openness and equity.
