Keywords
to make master II students acquainted with the fundamentals of the analysis-processing-synthesis techniques: Short Time Fourier Transform (STFT) and spectrogram. Perfect reconstruction conditions. Filter-bank and sliding-window Fourier transform interpretations. Time-frequency resolution trade-off (Heisenberg uncertainty principle). Extension to TFD filter-banks and wavelets (introduction). Equivalence between time warping and frequency warping. Temporal methods (OLA, PSOLA,…) for temporal and spectral modifications. - Additive synthesis based on a slowly time-varying sinusoidal+noise model. Automatic analysis chain including partial trajectory extraction. Noise modelling. Strategies and algorithms for sound computation whether based on partial trajectories. - Source-filter model for sound synthesis. Model typology; source and filter structures. Related sound analysis techniques. Classical analysis/processing/synthesis scheme based on the three aforementioned sound models. Related temporal and spectral sound processing techniques: time stretching, transposition, equalizer, noise extraction or reduction, cross-synthesis, sound morphing, - Lab sessions for practical and experimental study.
