- Keywords
- acoustic remote sensing and model-based inversion for applications in acoustic, ultrasonic, seismic and electromagnetic waves. These applications require numerical methods for wave propagation modeling and model-based inversion. The forward models for wave propagation for both range independent and range dependent environment include ray theory, normal modes, wave number integration techniques and the parabolic equation. Common techniques for model-based inversion contain general linear least-squares, singular-value decomposition, regularization, linearization, and global inversion methods such as simulated annealing and genetic algorithms. Applications are drawn from the research literature and include topics such as inversion of geo-acoustics, geo-electromagnetic and seismic data, matched-field inversion, modal decomposition, and remote sensing.
